Clubhouse Curriculum

Coomera Clubhouse will be providing an Emergent Curriculum and we will be implementing the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which is the new Government initiative that provides the outcomes required to enhance and enrich children’s learning.

The Emergent Curriculum is based on the interests of a child or group of children. The curriculum engages the individual child or the group in learning through play, sparked by a topic or activity that they have initiated.

Our team of Educators are then encouraged to facilitate these interests by building on these activities to channel the children's learning, exploration and discovery.

Planning this curriculum requires observation, documentation and creativity from our team, because rather than starting with a set program for the week, it starts off with the children's current interests and flows on from there.

The children's journey at the Clubhouse will be followed using the following methods-

Reflective Diary:

This will be a method for carers to program on a daily basis using diary-like entries. These diaries will be available for the carers to then further reflect on how the children's interest, curiosity and learning is moving along.

Documenting the learning:

Children's learning journies will then be documented for display in their room. Carer's are encouraged to photograph the children throughout the day for the best possible visual story of what the child has done for the week. These displays are colourful, creative stories of what the children are saying and what they are learning about a particular subject, such as the human body or the world etc. These displays will make the sharing experience with your child very enjoyable as you will know all about their week and what they have enjoyed doing at the Clubhouse.

Time:

Time is set aside for our team to take advantage of the impulsive interests and learning of the children as it happens, in order to plan projects and gather the resources that may be required. Children are given enough time to explore and expand on their interests, this maximises their chances of building on the subject and enjoying it as much as possible.

Preschool (Kindergarten) Program:

We are approved by the Queensland Government, which means that we are required to offer a learning program:

  • for children in the year prior to Prep (aged at least 4 years old by 30 June in the year they participate)
  • that is delivered by a four year qualified early childhood education teacher or a registered teacher with early childhood qualifications
  • that aligns with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline  or other education program accredited by the Queensland Studies Authority.
  • The cost for this program is $67 per day, not including CCB (Child Care Benefit or Rebates etc)
